Figure Drawing Workshop – Beginners Welcome!
This workshop will focus on how to accurately draw the human figure from life. It is an ongoing workshop. All skill levels are welcome, from experienced artists who wish to push their drawing and seeing skills further than ever, all the way to beginners who have limited experience drawing the figure model. Emphasis will be on a more classical approach to figure drawing. Students will work toward a general to a more specific statement of the model, as time permits. The same pose will be held for the entire two day workshop, allowing the student more time to develop his/her drawing in greater detail. Topics such as light and shadow, form, shape, rendering three dimensional form, anatomy, and more, will be explored in this workshop.
Drawing perspective workshop
In this workshop you will be introduced to the basic principles of perspective in visual arts.
Marbling Techniques I
Marbling is a fun and creative way to make free-flowing designs that can later be used in other crafts, collage or as a unique artwork. It’s a very old craft, first emerging in parts of Asia more than a thousand years ago.
If you’ve already taken the first part of this workshop, check out part II!
Marbling Techniques II
This workshop is a sequel to the basic marbling workshop. Students will learn how to do some traditional designs with combs and rakes. As well as doing works on paper, we’ll do some marbling on wood or fabric. It will be a great chance for experimentation and skill development.
One day drawing workshop: “The Power of Light”
In this workshop students will be introduced to the way light can transform any visual image
The instructor will give students two pencil shading exercises to help them understand how light can create focal points and dramatic effects.
Using photocopies provided by the instructor they will study the way the Italian artist Caravaggio used light in his paintings.
They then will experiment with shading the same photocopied line drawings to create different lining effects.
