Marbling Techniques I
Marbling is a fun and creative way to make free-flowing designs that can later be used in other crafts, collage or as a unique artwork. It’s a very old craft, first emerging in parts of Asia more than a thousand years ago.
In marbling, paint is floated upon a solution, manipulated with various tools then transferred to paper or fabric. You never know how it will come out but the results are always fascinating. In the workshop we will cover the basic technique, learn how to do a few traditional designs and then you can also make you own personal designs. At the end of the class you should have some very interesting works on paper and fabric.
Date and Time: TBA
Cost: $60 (materials included)
If you’ve already taken the first part of this workshop, check out part II!
Marbling Techniques II
This workshop is a sequel to the basic marbling workshop. Students will learn how to do some traditional designs with combs and rakes. As well as doing works on paper, we’ll do some marbling on wood or fabric. It will be a great chance for experimentation and skill development.
The basic materials will be supplied as well as paper and a small wooden box or wooden panel for each student. You may bring fabric, paper, wood or leather to marble. Any kind of natural fiber works well. Wood and leather must be clean and free from varnish or other finishes. If you have marbled papers or fabric already finished you can bring them to do collage.
