This class is being taught by a mosaic artist with 10+ years experience in public art mosaics. You will learn the basic techniques of contemporary mosaics. You will be given an image, which will be translated into the mosaic medium.
In this class you will be directed to make a mosaic measuring 11 x 11 inches using ceramic tiles from Mosaika. Demonstrations and trials for cutting tiles with various methods will be shown, and you will learn to use the tile nippers.
The first part of the class will be an introduction and explanation of creating mosaics, from conception to finish. Then you will learn and practice the cutting of tiles, the placing of the tesserae, and end with installation of the mosaic and grouting.
Instructor: Karina Pajuelo E.
